2014, Marija began her vocal studies at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music with vocal teacher Kristina Gailite. During her studies, she sang the role of Tatiana (Eugene Onegin - P. I. Tchaikovsky) at the Opera Studio “Figaro’’, as well as the role of Mother from Adolf Skulte's opera Eža Kazocińš. In 2018 she studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater Vilnius with teacher Irena Milkevičiūtė as part of the Erasmus + programme. In the same year Marija entered the master’s programme at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. During her studies Marija sang the role of Pale and Echo in the opera Gli amore d'Ergasto at the Alte Musik Forum Köln together with the Kairos orchestra, under the direction of conductor Kai Wessel. Marija also performed the role of Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte - W.A.Mozart) in a school production at Theater Aachen In the 2022/2023 season Marija has appeared as a guest in the role of Blumenmädchen (Le nozze di Figaro – W.A.Mozart) at Theater Aachen and also participated in theatre concerts. Marija actively participated in Masterclasses by Margaret Honig, Snezana Nena Brzakocic Joy Mammen and Maija Kovalevska.
