American tenor Brett Sprague was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington in the USA. He received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Chapman University in 2010 and his Master of Music in Classical Voice from the Manhattan School of Music in 2012. Mr. Sprague did his professional training as a young artist at Opera Colorado from 2013-2015 and the Chautauqua Opera during the 2013 and 2015 seasons, singing and covering roles in Rigoletto, Carmen, Die Zauberflöte, Il barbiere di Sevilla, Madama Butterfly, Eugene Onegin, Peter Grimes, Macbeth, and Falstaff. In the following years he performed as a soloist with the Indianapolis Opera, Opera Colorado, Eugene Opera, OnSite Opera, Festival Alfonso Ortiz Tirado, and at Carnegie Hall. In 2018, Mr. Sprague moved to Europe and performed Carmina Burana with the Tampere Filharmonia in Finland and the Gothenburg Symphony in Sweden. He performed the title role in Henze's Der junge Lord, at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, before becoming an ensemble member at Theater Erfurt in 2019, since then he as performed roles such as Hoffmann in Les contes Hoffmann, Ismaele in Nabucco, Prinz Gwidon in Das Märchen vom Zaren Saltan, King Charles in Orleanskya deva, and the Visitor in In the Penal Colony. Future roles include, Faust in Le damnation de Faust, Néoclès in Le siege de Corinth, Nicolas Gage in the world premiere of Eleni, and the title role in Peter Grimes at Theater Erfurt, also Carmina Burana with the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw, Poland.
